“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ…”
2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV
The Bible uses many words to describe the believer, one of which is “soldier” (2 Timothy 2:3). Just as a soldier fights, it is our duty to contend for our faith. Our adversary is quite calculated. Therefore, we must be intentional, organized and diligent in our fight.
Undoubtedly, we are not warring with physical weapons. Ours is a battle for the souls and minds of men.
“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 ESV
The sharing of the Gospel of Christ is serious business and we must be serious about it. Retreat is not an option. Whether we are ministering to folks within the church setting or not, the goal remains the same – to bring men to the saving knowledge of Christ.
At the battle front, timid soldiers may be tempted to retreat. But you, dear believer, are of a different stock. You have the Living God on your inside! He gives you boldness to withstand any opposition and declare the message of truth to all. You are to dismiss fear, and take up your cross with the end in view.
We have examples to follow in Scriptures:
Despite all the persecution He faced, Hebrews 12:2 has this to say about Jesus: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (KJV)
Also worthy of note is Steven’s encounter as recorded in Acts 6-7. He was brought before the council to defend himself, but he seized the opportunity to give an elaborate account of God’s plan for the salvation of mankind. For this, he was stoned to death, but he died victoriously! (Acts 7:54-60)
Beloved, our assignment is clear. We are to conquer territories and hearts for God. To do this effectively, we must stand together and proclaim the Gospel boldly. Our call is to preach the truth. We must preach it in all seasons. (2 Timothy 4:2)
DO THIS: Do your assignment today. Get someone (at least one) saved and filled with the spirit of God today.
