“And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Mark 16:15 NKJV
In the Gospel, we have an authentic message. It saves lives. If it is the right message, then we cannot be ashamed to preach it (Romans 1:16).
Here are a few things to consider when you preach the gospel:
First, have a sense of urgency with the message. The boldness to preach comes easily when you realise that the people you are preaching to are dead and you have the message of life (Ephesians 2:4, Acts 5:20) . Some people only realise this urgency when they are trying to reach people on their deathbed but the urgency has always been there.
Another point is that you should prepare yourself. Practice explaining the Gospel in a nutshell and also in a more elaborate version. Have a few open lines prepared and some preemptive answers to possible questions.
While preparation is important, we should be inclined to follow the leading of the Spirit. As you exercise the gifts of the spirit in your evangelical ministry, you’ll begin to see them at work more and more.
Also, prayer is important before, during and after your encounters with people that you share the gospel with. Paul asked the church to pray for utterance and boldness (Ephesians 6:18-20), pray for opportunities (Colossians 4:3) and pray for the gospel to spread swiftly ( 2 Thessalonians 3:1).
Preach often, the more you preach the less timid you are in situations. You would have become a veteran with conversation starters and have understood which ones are best for certain situations by your own evangelical experience.
Dear believer, you have the Holy Spirit, the right message and the right words to deliver it. Go!
