“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light…”
I Peter 2:9 NKJV

Welcome to Bible Reading Plan Recap – that time we do a quick summary of what we read in the Bible this week. It’s the 42nd week of our daily Bible reading plan.

This week we read from John 5-6, I Peter 2-4:1-11, Songs of Songs 2-6, Lamentations 1, and Jeremiah 47-52.

Our reading of the book of Jeremiah took us through several prophecies of judgment against the heathen nations of Philistia, Moab, Ammon, and Babylon. In Chapter 52, the fall of Jerusalem was reviewed. And that’s where our reading from the book of Jerusalem ended.

In Songs of Songs 2-6, we read yet more love poems between the Shulamite and her beloved.

After this, we began reading the book of Lamentations. Like the name implies, it is a compendium of laments, mournings and prayers concerning the fall of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is likened to a widow in mourning. So far, we have read Chapter 1.

After this, we read from John 5-6. After Jesus healed the man at the Pool of Bethesda, He went to perform more healings and miracles including that of the healing of the lame man and the feeding of the Five Thousand.

Also, we see Him allude Himself as the bread from heaven. He used other figurative terms that pointed to the fact that belief in His salvific work is the only way to everlasting life.

Finally, we read from I Peter 2-4:1-11. Apostle Peter keeps enjoining the dispersed believers, and us by extension, to stand out in this world in conduct and in speech. For example, he instructs us to “abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.” (I Peter 2:11‭-‬12 NKJV)

And that’s all we read in our Bible reading plan this week, family. Have a beautiful weekend.
