“Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:”
1 Peter 3:8 KJV

Our anchor text explicitly instructs us, as children of God, to be of one mind and love one another.

The love of God which has been “…shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost” (Romans 5:5), is meant to be shared with our brothers and sisters. That love should propel us to eliminate envy or strife, and embrace oneness of heart.

Let’s read the text again in the New Living Translation.

“Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude.” (1 Peter 3:8, NLT)

Therefore, you must learn to genuinely love your siblings in Christ. God does not love you any more or any less than your brother or sister in Christ. You must therefore imitate Him and love them without partiality.

In the same vein, you should also support and comfort them in their low moments, rather than see it as an avenue to mock them. Strengthen them in the faith.

So the message for today is simple: Love the brethren.

From today, I (insert your name), love my brothers and sisters in Christ wholeheartedly. I love them indeed and in truth.
