“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord’s glory, as the waters cover the sea.”
‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Many Christians don’t realize the radicalness that is necessary to carry out Jesus Christ’s last instructions to the disciples. A closer look at the Great Commission shows that in our evangelical ministry, we must be bold and radical if we are to do the work that Christ has called us to do.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This is a powerful verse and it has many components but we’ll consider two parts today – ‘make disciples’ and ‘of all nations’

First, the instruction to make disciples connotes training and consistent commitment to raising people in the word of God. Making disciples involves a change in the prevailing culture and mindset of the times.

Jesus showed us the approach we should have towards traditions and doctrines that are anti-christ.
“Jesus replied, “Every plant not planted by my heavenly Father will be uprooted”,
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭15:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬.

Our gospel is offensive to the world and the keepers of wrong traditions. In making disciples, we must seek to root out wrong doctrines, develop the right mindset and establish the truth of God’s word.

Acts 19:8-20 shows us the effect of this radical approach to evangelism where Paul preached in the synagogue in Ephesus for months and performed many miracles. All the socerers and diviners in the whole city became believers in Jesus Christ. This was the testimony:

“So the message about the Lord spread widely and had a powerful effect.”
‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭19:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

That takes us to the second point, we are to make disciples of all nations. This suggests that our gospel must be far reaching and get to the ends of the earth. This is what Jesus spoke about in Acts 1:8. We must reach every man, woman, boy and girl with the gospel.

If you are not seeing your city evangelized and taken for the gospel, you are not seeing the visions of God for that city or for the world. Christ died for all, it is our responsibility to take the gospel to them.

To evangelize the world, we must be bold in our assignment. We must be willing to be radical with our message. We will cover the earth with the truth of God’s word!
